Cake Sale
We were once again overwhelmed by the generosity of those who donated cakes for our cake sale. We are extremely grateful to those who helped with the set-ting up and manning of stalls and of course thank you to everyone who came along and bought the delicious cakes. With your support we raised £135.80, which is fantastic!
50/50 Club
Shipmates have obtained a lottery licence which is exciting because it means that we are now able to of-fer cash prizes. With this in mind we would like to form a 50/50 club. This is how the club would work. We will have numbers 1 - 100, with each number available to purchase at £1 each. You may buy as many numbers as you wish. On the last Friday of each month or the last Friday of term, a draw will be held to pick a winning number. The prize for the winning number will be 50% of the cash proceeds for that month. For example if all 100 numbers are sold the cash prize will be £50. The club is open to parents, friends and family of children at the school. You may pay for your number on a month to month basis or in advance. The numbers will be available to purchase from Wednesday 16th June onwards from Shipmates who will be found at reception after school each day. The first draw will take place on Friday 16th July. Payment for subsequent draws should be made by sending in your payment (cash only please) in an envelope clearly marked 50/50 Club, with your name and your club number(s).
How are Shipmates Funds Being Spent?
You will be pleased to know that we will shortly have on display two totalisers, one in the hall and one in reception, that will clearly show what projects Shipmates are working towards. I’m sure as parents who support our events you would like to see how much money you are helping to raise and where that money is being spent. If you remember the Shipmates questionnaire that was sent out asking for parents’ views on future possible projects. Well the consensus of opinion was that replacing the hall blinds should be a priority as they are badly broken and no longer fully functional. This causes difficulty at times especially on sunny days. Shipmates have therefore decided to fund a little makeover for the hall. The school is in the process of getting quotes for replacement blinds and due to the cost we would look to replace them section by section. We will also be purchasing two cupboards for the hall, where storage is needed. We hope you will agree that this is a worthwhile project that will benefit the whole school.
Date For Your Diary
Friday 24th September—Inflatable Fun.
Weather permitting we are planning another after school inflatable fun event. Last year’s was thoroughly enjoyable and we intend to sell wristbands in advance of the date to avoid queues and make the most of every second of bouncing time!
