Mr John Young - Chair of Governors

Mr Chris Beauchamp - Vice Chair GovernorsMr Chris Beauchamp

I was co-opted onto the Hilltop Infant School Governing Body in 2000 and at the beginning of 2006 became a Local Authority sponsored governor. I live locally and both my children attended the Hilltop schools. In September 2009 the next generation joined a reception class so I continue to have a live interest in maintaining Hilltop as the best infant school in the area. I trained as an accountant and worked as a financial auditor in central government. I also have wide experience in recruitment, performance management and premises. I am currently Chair of the Governors’ Premises and Health and Safety Committee.

Mrs Rachel Banks - Parent GovernorMrs Rachel Banks

I have lived in Wickford for four years and have been a Parent Governor since 2008. I am married and have two boys one who is currently at Hilltop and the youngest will be starting pre school in the next few months. I am a qualified auditor for a local authority and am able to use this knowledge and experience to help me in my role as a governor.

Mrs Maggie Beaucahmp - Community Governor Mrs Maggie Beauchamp

I have been a governor at Hilltop Infant School for 21 years and for 13 years of these I worked at the school as Finance Officer. While my children were at school I was a parent governor, then I became a non-teaching governor and currently I am a community governor. I have two BTEC qualifications in the subject of school governance and am also vice Chair of Governors at Beauchamps High School. Over the past 17 years I have had the pleasure and privilege of seeing many of the Hilltop infants develop into responsible and confident adults.

During my time at Hilltop Infant School I have worked with three headteachers and, together with the staff and governors, everyone has worked tirelessly to provide the best education and care for all pupils at the school. My main aim as a governor is to see this work continue so as to provide every child with new challenges and to stimulate a desire for life-long learning.

Mrs Karen Mackenzie - Headteacher GovernorMrs Karen Mackenzie

I started work as a teacher in 1982 and worked at two Essex schools before taking a break to spend time with my family. I have four children, two girls and two boys, who are all in full-time education. I became the headteacher at Hilltop Infant School in September 2006 after leaving a Rayleigh school where I had been the deputy head.

Over the past twenty five years I have worked on five different governing bodies as a teacher governor, parent governor, foundation governor and now as headteacher.

Mr Jim O'Sullivan - Community GovernorMr Jim O'Sullivan

I joined the Governing Body in March 2010. I live in Billericay and my youngest son and his family live in Wickford. I was a Mathematics teacher in the early part of my career but spent most of it as a chief financial office in the oil and gas industry. I have a keen interest in education and wish to do whatever I can to help give children the best education possible and instil in them a lifelong love of learning.

Mr Andy Palmer - Parent GovernorMr Andy Palmer

I have lived in Wickford for 10 years and have been a Parent Governor at Hilltop Infant School since 2007. I am married and have four children. My two girls have both attended Hilltop and it is my intention that my boys will follow suit.

Being a Governor enables me to give something back to the school that has made learning and school life such a pleasure for my children.
